New Haven County resident Derrick Colson, age 26, of Naugatuck, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 1, by Naugatuck Police for the incident which took place on Monday, Jan. 1.
According to the Naugatuck Police, officers were dispatched to the Mobil Gas Station at 282 South Main St. for an incident involving a firearm.
Once on the scene, officers found that Colson was involved in a dispute with another man inside the store that escalated and moved to the parking lot where he fired a gun at the man, police said.
The round missed the man hitting the ground. There were no reported injuries during the incident.
An investigation identified Colson as the aggressor and an arrest warrant was issued.
Following his arrest, he was charged with:
- Criminal attempt at assault
- Reckless endangerment
- Illegal discharge of a firearm
- Assault
- Carrying a pistol without a permit
- Illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle
- Breach of peace
Colson was held on a $150,000 bond pending his appearance at Waterbury Superior Court.
